Cramped space with no running/walking track. Was told by the staff that I could use the basketball courts to do my laps. As I got started, I was promptly informed that I couldn't use the court because there was a seniors yoga type class starting. Guess I've been spoiled by my more spacious and newer YMCA in Cartierville.
Recently went to go workout. Learnt that my membership was expired. “Alla” at front desk was unprofessional and disrespectful when demanding my mother’s credit card details due to them not accepting debit cards. Never once said “please” or “thank you” in addition to her tone being aggressive. Terrible customer service.
Nice gym, however the machines in the Gym area (musculation) weight and work out are super old. Some of them you can't not even adjust
It's an amazing place to workout, meet like-minded people and be part of a great community. The trainers are very knowledgeable and helpful.
I am glad they extended their operating hours. It closes at 10pm on weekdays and 7pm on weekends now. Everything is clean and organized for your workout.
I signed up for this gym based on the schedule displayed and confirmed in the contract I signed, which states the gym closes at 10 PM — this was crucial for me since I can only work out in the evenings after work. I fully understand that I need to be out before 10 PM, but unfortunately an employee starts turning off the music and repeatedly nagging members with closing reminders 30 minutes before the gym is supposed to close. He even interrupts people mid-exercise, coming back multiple times to push everyone out well before the official closing time. This isn’t just a friendly end-of-night reminder — it completely disrupts the workout and ruins the last part of the session. It’s especially frustrating because the other staff members are respectful and friendly. It’s disappointing that one employee can ruin the overall experience at an otherwise great gym.
Nice place and nice people, but I used to go to the downtown Y and the NDG Y could learn from their example. They had a little machine to wring bathing suits dry, whereas in NDG you have to somehow pack you wet bathing suit into a plastic bag and wring it manually at home. Also, I love Aquafit, but the water in the shallowest end at the NDG Y comes up to just above my chin, which is absolutely ridiculous. Downtown, I could do Aquafit with the water line at chest level. These seem like details, but they can be discouraging. The weight room is great, as is the cardio room. I haven't yet taken classes there.
The main reason I took the omny membership almost 2 years ago was for the pool facilities, but I've never found an apt schedule for using it. The schedule changes whenever and they don't assign any reasonable hours for members to use, more priority and hours are for the lessons. Last summer when I brought this up they said they will look into it and in the next schedule they would fix it but they haven't. Just disappointing.
