My children have been members of the Y for many years, and we’ve always loved the gym and pool facilities — the family locker rooms are most of the time clean and well maintained. When they do get messy during busy times, it’s usually because some members don’t respect the “no shoes” policy around the pool. Today, I decided to join as a member myself, and Boaz at the gym reception was incredibly helpful, efficient, polite, and knowledgeable, all while assisting other members at the same time.

After being a regular attendee for months, our most recent experience has forced us to discontinue our membership. The core issue is a complete lack of clear, consistent, and reasonably applied policies regarding facility access. The problem revolves around access to the family changing room. The layout is as follows: upon entry, a door to the left leads to a plaza, which then leads to the family changing room. The women's changing room is located down a different corridor. Here is the sequence of conflicting information we received: Past Experience: On multiple occasions, including when I was with my husband, we were allowed—and even assisted—in using the left-hand door to access the family changing room. This established a clear precedent. The Initial Refusal: Last week, when I was alone with my daughter, a security guard stopped us. His reason was that a mother and daughter were not allowed to use the "family" changing room. He could provide no logical explanation for this rule. The Contradictory Justification: When the situation was escalated, a completely different reason was given: security. We were told that the left-door access was restricted because the guard could not verify our membership status there, unlike the key-fob access from the gym corridor. Summary of the Management Failure: No Clear Policy: There is no visible, communicated policy stating who can use the family changing room or why certain access points are restricted. Inconsistent Enforcement: The rules seem to change based on which staff member is on duty or the composition of the family. This is unacceptable. Shifting Justifications: Being given two entirely different reasons (a "family rule" vs. a "security rule") proves that the staff is either poorly trained on actual policies or are enforcing arbitrary, personal interpretations. This indecisive and illogical management creates a hostile and confusing environment for paying customers. We were humiliated, made late for our class, and ultimately made to feel like rule-breakers for attempting to use a facility we had used freely before. We cannot support a center that operates in this manner. Significant changes in policy clarity, staff training, and customer communication are needed before we would ever consider returning.

This is the most corrupt organization I have ever dealt with. My 8 year old son was part of the y basketball team. His coach Julia Peress bullied and intimidated him to the point where she had him kicked off the team. Unfortunately, there is no proper internal regulatory body to uphold ethical standards and our issues were belittled by the CEO.

I have been a devoted member of the Y for over 37 years. Over decades, I came regularly to maintain my health and strength. But recently, the treatment I received was shocking and deeply hurtful. In mid-2025, when I was 82 years old and coping with serious physical challenges (a broken hip and limited mobility), I was suddenly told that my membership would be canceled. I never received a proper explanation. When I tried to speak with staff or management, I was ignored, treated dismissively, or denied access to the building entirely. At one point, security personnel refused me entry or exit despite my disability, and staff members showed a lack of empathy or even basic civility. They acted as though I was invisible or undeserving of respect. Even when I asked to meet with the CEO, I was dismissed and told nothing could be changed. This is not just about policy — it’s about human decency. An elderly person, physically frail and in pain, was treated with coldness, neglect, and indifference by an organization I trusted for decades. I urge current and prospective members to know: membership longevity, age, or disability apparently offer no protection — in fact, they may make you more vulnerable to mistreatment. I hope leadership at the Y will reflect, apologize, and make meaningful changes so no one else goes through what I experienced.

NOISE POLLUTION BUILDING - Fantastic gym facility, prestine. But the NOISE POLLUTION coming from this building is absolutely too much. I dont know if the HVAC unit belongs to the YMHA, The school or the theatre. But I hear it 2 roads away from inside my appartment year round and especially in the summer when I keep the windows open to stay cool. There NEEDS to be sound proofing done or repairs brought to this HVAC unit. I'm seeking ways with municipal and legal professionals on how to approach this noise pollution issue. Sometimes the noise washes over my TV or audio playing! Unbelievable.
