I went to this gym for years until dealing with an unpleasant man that the gym refused to remove. My report on this man was the second one and they still didn't remove him from the gym. He crossed physical boundaries and I wasn't the only women he made to feel uncomfortable. The morning supervisor is his buddy so I guess they let it slide again because he needed his chatting buddy while he was supposed to be working and looking after the gym. They called me to tell me they spoke to him and gave him a warning? A warning when it's his second offense this doesn't make sense. To put into perspective the other woman who reported him was a woman of color and so am I. It's clear they don't care to protect their members but will protect a man who has made many people uncomfortable and crosses physical boundaries which doesn't matter with him. He should have been kicked out but they want to protect him. If you're a woman and more so a woman of color this gym will not have your back if you have to deal with an uncomfortable situation. I suggest you go somewhere else where you are valued. You guys know exactly who I am because I've been there for years and I recently left the gym in November. I should be made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe in an environment where i really enjoyed for years. It's too bad, I made a lot of friends here and good connections. Putting it in perspective, I live downtown and would travel to Mile end everyday because of the community and people there. Then I realized I'm not valued and they want to protect this man. If you go to this location in the morning, you probably know who the man I'm talking about it. Short, old, Greek man who loves to ego lift all the plates on the leg press. He pushed boundaries and took advantage of my kindness claiming he's a nice man. Shame on all of you at this location for letting someone like this continue to have a membership. I'll be sure to make a reddit thread since these types of posts tend to go viral lately. Thanks for nothing YMCA du parc.
Review for Pilates Class with Nathalie (Thursdays 17:30–18:30, 2C Classroom) Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with Nathalie's group Pilates class. Despite following her instructions and mirroring her movements, I was repeatedly singled out and criticized throughout the session. Her comments felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, rather than constructive or encouraging. What was most upsetting was how she addressed me at the end of the class—raising her voice in front of the entire group. It wasn’t handled with professionalism or respect, but rather with visible contempt, which left me feeling humiliated. Group fitness classes should be a supportive environment, especially for those trying to improve, but this was far from that. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as no one should be made to feel this way in a group setting. The staff at YMCA du Parc fail to follow basic professional and ethical norms, treating members as if the public facility were their personal space rather than a welcoming, inclusive environment. Classes and the swimming pool are consistently cold, making it uncomfortable to participate. After an instructor behaved inappropriately toward me and I raised a complaint, I faced retaliation and unequal treatment in class. This place fails to live up to the YMCA’s core values of respect, inclusiveness, and care.
YMCA du Parc is allowing VISIBLY ill people to participate in their CPR classes. The instructor did not sanitize the equipment between uses, resulting in an outbreak of strep. We have filed a complaint with YMCA and they have not taken action. Also the instructor was 20min late to every class. Please d not take ahelath and safety class here
The staff at this Y are so nice and helpful, Yoan specifically is the best! Working out at the Y du parc has supported my mental health journey.
Get your supervisors in check! We all pay for a membership here and we are being punished because they are not present to unlock the gym!
The swim classes for adults are a waste of time and money, the coach come with no plan for every course, and want to do the same thing every time until we say we did the same last week and the coach start thinking about another thing to do, and it still be not interesting. They should have a planing for every seance so that we progress and we learn new things. the course is only in 50min not 1h. I regret it
The swim classes for toddlers is not professional it’s a waste of money ! The water extremely cold and way too much chlorine before I registered I called many times and asked if the classes were designed to help kids swim they reassured me but the experience was the exact opposite
long time member. grateful for the staff. great people. i think you have good intentions as a gym - but it seems that care and atmosphere are not priorities.... there has to be some consideration for atmosphere. aside from orange, grey and red walls (super depressing combination) why such jarring bright blue/white lights in the saunas and in the gym? maybe place the deadlift weights stations somewhere other than above the yoga studio. the treadmills all face away from windows onto monitors blasting world news. that is depressing. i assure you everyone spending extensive time walking or running on those machines would rather look at the mountain view. also everyone has headphones, you don't need to blast music - there are plenty of loud noises from the basketball court (which is fine) but the noise combination is stressful. not to mention that you play pop music in the pool area. for swimmers - that's just excess noise while dipping your head in and out of water. maybe make your empty studios more available when there are no classes... better lighting.... better colours on the walls. maybe some hours for adults to avoid 10 year old kids monopolizing the weights. relocate the machines to reflect people's needs... i've written to the gym but it seems your responses like the online ones are just weird apologies.... having said all that - i emphasize my appreciation for the staff and the members - but exercising should be pleasant and does not have to be stressful. thank you.
