Nautilus Plus - Ile des Soeurs

The gym is spacious, well-lit, and clean, but the equipment is so old, hard to use, and missing basics you’d find in any Econofitness. Unfortunately, there’s no competition in the neighborhood, so the only option is to try to work out in what feels like a museum of outdated machines.

This gym is decent but requires an update on the equipment. I like the big windows that let in a lot of light while you’re working out but many things break and they take forever to repair them. Tried to use the female sauna and it appeared to be broken too.

I initially left a negative review because of my experience with pausing my membership, which was frustrating at the time. After attending the gym for a while and getting to know the staff better, I feel it’s fair to update my rating. Yes, the equipment could definitely use an upgrade, and that hasn’t changed. However, the overall atmosphere of the gym makes a big difference. The group classes are great, the vibe is friendly and motivating, and over time it actually makes you want to show up and work out regularly. Once you get into the routine, the positive energy and community really grow on you. For that reason, I’m updating my rating to 4 stars.

I moved to the island more than one year ago so i didn’t really have much choice. But the place is nice not too crowded since I only go in the morning weekdays. Only thing I don’t like is some people didn’t follow the rules for example didn’t take their winter dirty shoes or didn’t put the weight back after using but I guess these could happen to all the gyms so technically not gym fault

I took the membership a year back while I was a student, and I had clearly asked the people at the desk who opened my file if I’d be able to cancel it if I get a job and move out of this province. They clearly told me that if I either move out of the province or the country the subscription will end right away provided the necessary proof is provided. I got a job in a different province now and I informed them that I’d like to end the membership, but now they say it cannot be done as it is an annual contract and moreover it’s just two more payments. I honestly don’t care if it’s two payments, even $60 is money for me and I wouldn’t want to waste it for no reason. Do not believe them, they flatter you with all the lies to join the membership and this is what you’ll get in return. Worst!!!

I am a professional swimmer and swim coach. I registered at Nautilus in Nuns’ Island because the welcoming package seemed very attractive. However, upon signing up, I discovered that if I didn’t cancel my membership within the first month, I would be required to continue paying unless I moved to another city. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I was unable to make use of my membership. When I approached the front desk to cancel, the coordinator (a senior woman) informed me that I had to pay a cancellation fee. I was shocked, as this policy seemed illogical and unreasonable. The lack of transparency in their terms and the unprofessional approach of the staff were highly disappointing. I do not recommend this gym—not only are the staff rude and unprofessional, but the gym equipment is also outdated.

My friend and I just got a membership here and although everything else is great, one of the employees was very unhelpful and demotivating to my friend during her consultation. He made no effort to understand her fitness goals, did not provide additional explanations for the machines, did not give an example of a workout routine she could start, did not explain what type of diet she would need to reach her fitness goals, and made her feel very unmotivated, demoralized, and humiliated. I didn’t catch his name but I think all employees should brush up on their people skills to avoid situations like these where a client can potentially cancel their membership.

Love it here. Has all the equipment I need and very friendly gym goers. I like the fact that the dumbbells go up to 115lbs which not every gym has.
